Tomoko Shioyasu
apanese artist Tomoko Shioyasu was born in Osaka in 1981 and majored in sculpture at the Kyoto City University of Arts. Her immense floor-to-ceiling tapestries are meticulously cut by hand from enormous sheets of paper using utility knives and soldering irons. Her work evokes some of nature’s most complex creations: the organic patterns of cells, the flow of water, and the forces of wind. How these are hung without tearing seems nearly impossible. Her latest work, “Vortex” (first two images) is currently on display as part of the show Bye Bye Kitty!!! Between Heaven and Hell in Japanese Art at Japan Society in New York

Swedish Printmakers
The Swedish Printmakers´ Association was founded in 1910 by a handful of artists with the intention, then as now, of furthering the interests of printmakers, arranging print exhibitions and distributing information about printmaking as an art form.
The Association has worked internationally from the very beginning, exhibiting in many countries, and arranging print exhibitions from abroad.
The Swedish Printmakers´ Association runs a gallery from which there is a vast network of contacts to other printmakers´ collective workshops and printmakers´ associations in Sweden and abroad.

Berlin Biennale 2010 + 2012
Artur Żmijewski has been appointed curator of the 7th Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art. Visual artist Artur Żmijewski, born in 1966 in Warsaw (Poland), works almost exclusively with the media of photography and film. He is particularly interested in the power of art and its relation to politics. From an almost anthropological viewpoint he investigates social norms, morality and representations of power in today’s society and the effects that art have on it.

Supermarket 2011 - A.R.I. Artfair Stockholm
18th - 20th February 2011
SUPERMARKET 2011 will for the second year in a row take place at Kulturhuset (The House of Culture) in Stockholm. Kulturhuset is located at Sergels torg in the very centre of Stockholm.
http://supermarketartfair.com/
The goal of SUPERMARKET is to provide a showcase for artists' initiatives from all over the world and to create opportunities for new networks in the Swedish and international art scenes. It is also an art fair that strives to offer the visitor an experience, rather than focusing on sales.
SUPERMARKET focus on Artist-run galleries regularly staging public exhibitions in their own exhibition spaces and other artists' initiatives.
In February 2006, Minimarket, a precursor to SUPERMARKET, was held at Konstnärshuset as a reaction to the new commercial art fair, Market. The following year, SUPERMARKET 2007 occupied the entire building at Konstnärshuset. SUPERMARKET 2008 relocated to larger premises at the old industrial space Enskilda Galleriet. SUPERMARKET 2009 was held at the Clarion Hotel Stockholm with 55 participants and thereby became Sweden’s largest art fair. SUPERMARKET 2010 was held at Kulturhuset with 65 participants from more than 20 countries.

Magasin 3 Stockholm Kunsthall
Current Exhibition: Investigations of a Dog
17 Feb - 29 May 2011
This spring Magasin 3’s exhibition spaces will be filled with works by internationally acclaimed artists including Maurizio Cattelan, Fischli & Weiss, Claire Fontaine, Jeff Koons, Sigalit Landau and Sherrie Levine – many of them being shown in Sweden for the first time.
The exhibition Investigations of a Dog has borrowed its title from a short story by Franz Kafka (1922) and presents works from the collections of all five members of FACE – Foundation of Arts for a Contemporary Europe. The responsible curator in Stockholm, Tessa Praun, describes the exhibition’s theme:
Kafka’s short story is written from the perspective of a dog suffering an identity crisis. The dog is more introverted and reflective than his fellow dogs. This more critical approach to society, complete with existential thoughts, is reflected in the artistic process of the works selected for the exhibition.

Magasin 3 Stockholm Konsthall is situated in the former warehouse Magasin 3 in Frihamnen (the free port), north of Gärdet’s greens, ca 300 meters after entering the gates leading into Frihamnen on Tegeluddsvägen. The building lies between the Tallinn terminal Tallink and the warehouse for Banankompaniet. The entrance to Magasin 3 Stockholm Konsthall is on the first floor reachable via the elevators marked 3 and 4.

What are the defining aesthetics of art in the networked era? How is mass collaboration changing notions of ownership in art? How does micropatronage change the way artists produce and distribute artwork? The Future of Art begins a conversation on these topics and invites your participation. (twitter hashtag: #futureofart)

Prado Collection Online
In response to the size of its collections and the problem of choosing what to see in the Museum, the Prado has organised three routes for visitors that focus on its masterpieces.
Depending on the time available for the visit, routes of 15, 30 and 50 works have been devised which cover the most important artists represented in the Museum, in addition to outstanding examples of goldsmiths’ work and sculpture from the permanent collection.
If you wish to know the basic information and the description of each work, including the possibility to listen to the corresponding audioguide, click on each image. We recommend that once you have begun listening to the audioguide that you enlarge the image by clicking on the "enlarge" or "zoom" buttons that you can find below each image. Singapore Biennale 2011
Featuring 60 artists from 30 countries, the third Singapore Biennale, titled 'Open House', will be open to the public from 13 March to 15 May 2011. Over half of the artists are creating new commissions or premiering new works. 'Open House' is presented across four exhibition venues, each with their own particular character, that draw upon emblematic spaces in Singapore: Housing Development Board flats (Singapore Art Museum and 8Q), shopping centres and night markets (National Museum of Singapore), and international air and sea ports (Old Kallang Airport). Major art works at Marina Bay will amplify individual experience in the city.
