A couple of weeks after I arrived in Amsterdam I had a meeting with a dutch printmaker. During the course of the conversation, the following exchange took place.

me: Is there a dutch printmaking association?

him: Yes, I'm the president.

me: Oh, how do I go about joining?

him: You can't join, you're a foreigner.
