build your own Etching Press

Welcome!
This site is a little project that began a few years back. It's purpose is to provide information to Intaglio printmakers wishing to build their own Etching Press. Here you will find info and plans for building your press. The link above Gallery of presses built By Others will show you some examples of what you can accomplish with these plans and a little willpower

The plans provide all the details needed to build three different types of presses, a hand operated chain drive, a hand operated gear driven one for the purist and a motor driven one for the lazy.

The only work you will have to do, is build a bench for it and bolt the pieces together. A machine shop will fabricate a few of the parts for you the rest of the parts can be purchased from a Gear Supply Company.

If you have any questions and I'm sure you will, I ask that you check the FAQ section before contacting me, the answer might be posted there as well as some answers to questions you might not have thought of.

We also have a bulletin board set up so you can ask questions or provide reflections on your experience as you take this journey to Pressdom! It is my hope that those that have reached the magic kingdom might share some of the wisdom they gained with other just starting the journey. I don't have a great deal of time to contribute to this myself but will add the occasional tidbit. There has been some good stuff put on there all ready!

So enough talk feel free to explore the site and I hope to meet you on the road to Pressdom!
