Elizabeth Peyton

Elizabeth Peyton is best known for portraits of her close friends, pop celebrities, and European monarchy. She painted Princes William and Harry, John Lennon, Kurt Cobain, Pete Doherty, Ludwig II of Bavaria, and members of the Kennedy family. Neugerriemschneider presents new works by Elizabeth Peyton (April 29 - June 3, 2006), mainly portraits of women and female artists like Georgia O’Keeffe and Frida Kahlo

Ms. Strassfield went on to say, “I like the way Elizabeth Peyton handles the paint; it’s very fluid and follows in the footsteps of Fairfield Porter. Liz Peyton chose the portraits herself, and arranged them herself.” There are over 40 works, including etchings, monotypes, lithographs and Ukiyo-e woodcuts from 1998-2006. Many of the works come from Peyton’s own private inventory, and therefore have never been seen before. They include images of present day celebrities, family and friends.
